Disney will launch its Disney Genie Service at the Florida Disney World on Oct. 19, according to a company blog post. The service will feature options to allow park visitors to organize a custom itinerary, which they can update as they go, as well as a personalized tip board with live wait times and future wait time estimates.
Additionally, through this feature, the company will replace its FastPass feature with a Disney Genie+ add-on, which is available at individual attractions or as a package for the more than 40 attractions that offer the option.
Prices will vary. As the post states, “throughout the year, prices may be lower on some days and higher on other days.”
Consumers can pay for their passes through Disney World’s website, through the My Disney Experience app or through travel agents. However, they can only pay for passes for individual attractions through the app.
The company announced the existence of this service in August, noting that it will also be coming to the Disneyland Resort in California.
“Built right into the My Disney Experience and Disneyland apps, the Disney Genie service will maximize your park time, so you can have more fun,” the company said in the initial blog post. “It includes a personalized itinerary feature that will quickly and seamlessly map out an entire day.”
The news followed reports in June that Disneyland’s annual pass program was coming to an end. At the time, Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock said the program will be heavily informed by guest demand and experience. Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney parks, experiences and products, told the Los Angeles Times that the program “will reflect the behavior of our superfans” – what that will mean in terms of pricing or the depth of the offering remains unspecified.
