Etsy Names New COO, HR Head







Online craft-centric marketplace Etsy has a new chief operating officer.

Raina Moskowitz, who has been with Etsy since 2018, will assume the expanded role immediately, according to a Tuesday (March 22) press release.

In addition, the Brooklyn-based company will expand its executive team with the addition of Kim Seymour as chief human resources officer, effective April 26.

“In Raina’s expanded role, she will further define Etsy’s strategic direction and oversee global marketplace services,” the company said in a news release. “She will now lead two critical, revenue-driving functions — payments and fulfillment — and continue to oversee Etsy’s Member Services, Trust & Safety, Strategy & Operations, and Impact teams.”

“Raina’s expanded role will help us continue to deliver world-class customer experiences and cement Etsy as a trusted brand for our global community,” said CEO Josh Silverman. “She has championed some of our most critical initiatives through periods of unprecedented growth and change. Her leadership style has motivated and inspired teams across the company to perform at their best.”

Seymour has spent more than two decades in organizational design and team building, most recently as chief people office for WW International. At Etsy, Seymour will be responsible for aligning “global talent to growth opportunities,” with the company’s human resources and workplace teams reporting to her.

Last month, Etsy reported a 16.5% year-over-year sales increase to $4.2 billion in the fourth quarter of 2021, while the site’s active sellers were up 72% to 7.5 million and active buyers spiked 17.6% to 96.3 million.

Meanwhile, Etsy’s 5 million sellers delivered about 90% of their hand-crafted gifts on time during the most recent quarter, and Silverman said he’s optimistic Etsy can continue its upward trajectory into 2022 and beyond.

Etsy has said it sees its total addressable market at around $2 trillion, nearly eight times Amazon’s expected revenue for this year.
